The School Investment Account (SIA) Grant is derived from the 2019 Student Success Act (SSA) (HB3427), which created funds to invest in the success of students. Siletz was slated to receive $173,745 for the 2020-21 school year but due to budget cuts, the school will be submitting an adjusted budget in the amount of $65,699.12.
From November of 2019 through the spring of 2020, the school conducted various parent, staff and student surveys asking for community input on the grant. Two major focus areas emerged from the survey input: Well-Rounded Education and Health and Safety. (See results below) However, with the decreased amount coupled with the high technology demands of the school brought about by the school closure due to covid and Comprehensive Distance Learning, we now need to re-strategize our goals and re-allocate our limited resources.
On January 7, the school held a special board meeting to would also allow for any additional community input on the adjusted plan.
